His death
Alexander the Great died on either 10 or 11 June 323 BC, in the palace of Nebuchadnezzar located in Babylon. He was only 32 when he passed away. Roughly fourteen days before his death, Alexander entertained his admiral Nearchus, and then, spent the whole day drinking with Medius of Larissa. After this, and by 18 Daesius he had a fever, which only kept getting worse. By 25 Daesius, he was unable to speak. And finally, by 28 Daesius Alexander was dead. Diodorus recounts that Alexander was struck down with pain after downing a huge bowl of wine in honor of Hercules, and died soon after. However, Plutarch specifically denies this claim.
Last years in Persia
When Alexander discovered that many of his satraps and military governors had misbehaved in his absence, he executed a portion of them, on his way to Susa. Alexander wanted to show his generosity and thanks, so he paid off the debts of his soldiers, and announced that he would send those over-aged and disabled veterans back to Macedon under Craterus. his troops misunderstood and mutinied at the town of Opis and refused to be sent away. They criticized his adoption of Persian customs and dress. Alexander executed the ringleaders of the mutiny but forgave the rank and file. After Alexander traveled to Ecbatana to retrieve the bulk of the Persian treasure, his closest friend Hephaestion died of an illness. He was very affected by this so Alexander sacked a near by town and killed all of the inhabitants by sword, as a sacrifice to his Hephaestion

Route to the Persian Empire
In 334 BC Alexander crossed the Hellespont with approximately 42,000 soldiers from various Greek city-states and mercenaries. After the victory over Persia at the Battle of Granicus, Alexander accepted the surrender of the Persian provincial capital and treasury of Sardis. Alexander waged many sieges and eventually forced his opponents to withdraw by sea. Alexander left the government of Caria to Ada, who adopted him as her son.
Education
Philip thought that Alexander needed a better education. He was in dire need of a tutor, so he searched around. Finally he gave the job to Aristotle . In return for teaching Alexander, Philip offered to rebuild Philip's hometown of Stageira. Meiza was like a boarding school for Alexander and the other young nobles. At the school Aristotle educated the adolescents about medicine, philosophy, morals, religion, logic, and art. From his teachings, Alexander started to develop a passion for the works of Homer.
